Email from Mike Kline received on 8 March 2000.

Bob,

A few things...

First, you can disregard my request for the minutes to the meeting at the
Pouj - Gary Murray provided the information I needed.

Second, Samantha Arnold has decided that she is unable to continue as the
RYC coordinator. I am taking her place. Would you please change the
contact information on the website? My home address is 812 Meadow Scape,
Converse Texas 78109 and my phone numbers are wk(512) 263-3568 and hm(210)
945-4903. Email is (obviously) mike@shardt.com .

Third, Gary said that, at the executive meeting at the Pouj, Oklahoma
Division commited to sending at least five fencers to the Dallas RYC on
April 1, 2000. Can you please let me know right away if this is still a
firm commitment?

Thanks for everything,

Mike Kline

The flyer for the Regional Youth Circuit April 1st in Dallas is posted
to:
        http://waddoups.tripod.com/flyers/RYC2000flyer.htm

I was asked today (Tuesday) to get a commitment by THURSDAY from the
North Texas, Oklahoma, and surrounding area clubs as to how many fencers
they will be bringing to the tournament. If we do not have a firm
commitment of youth fencers coming to the tournament, the tournament
will be taken away from us (basically by South Texas and Gulf Coast
Division clubs boycotting and holding another competition in South
Texas). Should this happen, there will not be local age group
tournaments held in North Texas for at least 2 years.

I am hoping our friends in west Texas and Texarkana see this tournament
as a way to introduce their fencers to stronger competitions and
encourage their fencers to attend. Fencing Institute of Texas has been
the only club represented by North Texas Division at the other
tournaments, and even FIT only had 3 fencers at the last tournament in
Austin.

Youth fencers receive points based on their best 3 out of 5 placements
at the Regional Youth Circuit tournaments. Prizes are awarded to top
finishers at the end of the season.

Any other questions, please feel free to e-mail me. Please respond,
even if negatively, by Thursday.

Thanks!

Brenda Waddoups, Secretary
North Texas Division
