Registration Closing Times

All fencers in all competitions must be USFA Competitive Members who are either citizens or permanent residents of the United States of America. Only members of the Gulf Coast Division may compete in this Division's Qualifying Competitions. You will be asked to show your membership card or a current and valid receipt of membership to the registration committee. USFA membership forms will be available at the tournament. Junior fencers are reminded they need the signature of a parent or guardian (not a coach) on the membership form; Payment for memberships is made directly to the USFA. Participants are required to fence in proper fencing attire; USFA rules will be applied. There are no alternate qualifiers to any National tournaments.

VETERANS fencing in the Division II/III qualifier (or the Section Division-IA Qualifier) are automatically qualified for that Veteran's event at Summer Nationals. There is not a separate qualifier. Veteran's must be born in 1961 or before (always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form).

YOUTH 12/10

- All youth 12 and Youth 10 fencers are qualified to participate in Summer Nationals providing they meet the age criteria for the event. Youth 12 fencers must have been born in 1990 through 1993 or must be on the Youth-12 or Youth-10 point standings. Youth 10 fencers must be born in 1992 through 1995. Always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form. There is not a separate qualifier for these age groups.

YOUTH 14

- Fencers must have been born in 1988 through 1991 or must be on the Youth-14 or Youth-12 point standings (always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form).

UNDER 16

- Fencers must have been born in 1987 through 1990 or must be on the Cadet or Youth-14 point standings (always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form).

UNDER 19

Fencers must have been born in 1984 through 1990 or must be on the Junior or Cadet point standings (always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form). Under 19 qualify through the Section Qualifier. There is not a Division qualifying path.

DIVISION II/III

- Division II Fencers must have been born in 1988 or earlier AND must be classified as "C", "D", "E" or Unclassified at the time they qualify. Division III fencers must have been born in 1988 or earlier AND must be classified as "D", "E" or Unclassified at the time they qualify. Always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form. All fencers rated "D" or below who participate in the Division II qualifier are automatically qualified for Division III. There is not a separate qualifier for Division III.

DIVISION I and OPEN TEAMS

- The Division's Team Qualifying Competition will be used to qualify teams to both the Division I Team National Championships and the Open Team National Championships. Only one team per club is permitted to qualify. Division Composite teams are allowed if no other club has a participant. Each member of the team must be a USFA and North Texas Division competitive member.

UNDER 19 TEAM

- Fencers must be under nineteen years of age as of January 1 in the season of the Championships. Only one team per club is permitted to qualify. Division Composite teams are allowed if no other club has a participant. Each member of the team must be a USFA and North Texas Division competitive member.

All weapons will be fenced electrically. There are separate men's and women's events.

Under 16 and Youth 14 Events : If there are only 2 fencers, one 15 touch bout will be fenced to determine first place. For three or more fencers, one round of pools will be fenced, 100% will move up to DE's. Div II/III Events : One round of pools will be fenced, 100% up to DE's. Team Events : USFA format will be followed.
